It’s been a very exciting couple of months for me. I am immensely appreciative that I have been published in 2 major art magazines, Southwest Art and Plein Air Magazine. I have been a subscriber for years but to actually be featured is mind blowing!

Southwest Art Magazine had contacted me after my painting, A Place in the Sun, had won “The Award of Excellence For Pastel”, in The American Impressionist Society 19th Annual Juried Exhibition. I was featured in their “Artists To Watch” in the Jan. 2019 issue. I was told Southwest Art has the highest circulation for Contemporary Art Collecting at Barnes and Noble.

Then Plein Air Magazine’s editor contacted me about having an article included in their March issue. I had hoped and dreamed someday to be in their beautiful magazine.
I was interviewed for almost 2 hours by Robert Carsten, a fellow pastel artist and writer. After seeing the copy of the magazine, I was pinching myself reading the 6 page spread. The digital version added an additional 2 pages with photos of my paintings. All I kept thinking was how far I had come in my art career, how all that easel time paid off.

I still get to look forward to being in Pastel Journal Magazine’s Top 100 May ’19 issue. My painting, French Quarter Stroll, won an Honorable Mention in the Landscape / Interior Category. It is always such a thrill to be included amongst the other leading pastel artists! More on this when it comes out.
As an artist, I create in solitude. I am in my own little world, down in my studio painting for the joy of painting. So, it is gratifying, thrilling and a little shocking to see my words and paintings in print. But, I must admit…it is very, very cool!
